ECHO 2013 - The Winners

Last night the 22nd ECHO, one of the most honourable music awards in the world, took place in Berlin.

The Deutsche Phono-Akademie, the cultural institution of the national music industry association awarded the prestigous award in 29 categories,  honouring the most successful work of national and international musicians.

Following a spectacular opening ceremony moderated by Helene Fischer, who enchanted the entire audience and who herself took two ECHOs home, other national and international stars made their way to the stage to perform
and to receive their own ECHO.

Peter Maffay received an ECHO in the categorgy 'Most Successful Live-Act of the Year', for his fifth and last segment of the famous Rock fairytale "Tabaluga und die Zeichen der Zeit" (Tabaluga and the Signs of Time), a befitting ending
for the small green dragon and the sensational success, 30 years later following the first show.

The highly desired award as 'Best Artist National Rock/Pop' was awarded to the violinist David Garrett, and the audience had the chance to experience a live performance of his interpretation of Coldplay's hit "Viva La Vida" on his Stradivari. Robbie Williams received the award for 'Artist International Rock/Pop.'

Lena fought back tears when she was awarded the Echo for 'Best Video National.' Since she won the award for her first self produced album, receiving the ECHO was extra special. After receiving the award Lena performed her current hit "Neon," which is currently a favorite on the Radio.

An Echo for "Artist Rock/Alternative National" was awarded to Der Graf von Unheilig, which was also the most successful German act abroad.

Without a doubt, the evening was dominated by the Toten Hosen, winning 4 ECHOs out of the 7 categories for which they were nominated, they received the ECHO for the following categories: "National Group Rock/Pop", "Album of the Year", "Most Succesful Hit of the Year", and the "Producer ECHO" for their album.
